I have been appointed to make a site for my local political association.
I have started off with Wordpress and Drupal, to see which might bring me closest to ease of use (for writers/editors) and functionality.
With Drupal I have ended up with module upon modules upon modules, not being able to sort out exactly what does what and how to achieve anything approaching a final result.
With Wordpress things are a bit smoother but the issues I am having are nevertheless similar to the ones with Drupal.
What I would like to accomplish is a 3-4 column layout with a top navigation and a top banner, divided in two sections.
- For the Menu I can use Smokeys approach to Suckerfish.
- The theme would have to be some kind of Bifrost with more columns, and multiple opentables.
- I need a blogger infusion that works with selected users only
- Some custom panels (centered 2x3) that roll latest blog post, latest news, latest articles
I have an example of what someone else did on another place, it is relevant in so much it shows the element positioning I am after (give or take the HUGHE image slider).
Its made in Drupal. I find it a bit rough on the edges, but clean enough.

yea, you should try it out. I think it was a very good infusion. Did'nt work on my site at first, so had to create some tables manually. Just tell me if you are having the same problems. |
