For those that are wondering, the theme contest deadline is coming closer and closer. We have only received a few submissions already and for those that are still working on themes please dont forget the deadline. For those that do not maybe know how and would like to give it a try please check out the PHP Fusion Wiki which has some information on theme creation. http://wiki.php-fusion.co.uk/index.php?title=PHP-Fusion_7_Theming.
If we do not get enough submissions from the community I may open it up to staff and extend the final deadline a week or so depending on certain items. For the moment the deadline remains and thanks to those that have submitted.
Cheers
UPDATE: On another note. All NSS support sites need to get in touch with me or a Super Administrator from this site immediately. |

PHP Fusion - New BugTracker |
|
Digitanium has created a new custom bugtracker for us here at PHP Fusion so we dont need to use a 3rd party application and it integrates fairly nicely with the site. We have added it to this site for those who wish to test and provide feedback on errors and issues they see in PHP Fusion. We are all human, no-one person is perfect so im sure some will be found here or there! I would also like to mention that it is not just for bugs but also for feature requests! This way we dont need to have several posts asking for the same feature, you can simply search the database for the feature and see if it has already been asked for. If not then you can submit a request or if it has simply add a comment to the submission!
You can access the bugtracker via the URL on the nav bar or by visiting the following URL: http://php-fusion.co.uk/infusions/roadmap/roadmap.php |

PHP Fusion Official Documents and NEW CoC |
|
PHP Fusion Management and Crew have been reviewing policies and procedures documents as of late and revamping them. One of the first documents to come out of that is the new Code of Conduct which all community users and guests will be expected to follow. These are the guidelines that the new Moderators will uphold to the letter. Several other documents will be published shortly such as National Support Site Guidelines and Regulations and more. If anyone has any questions what so ever please do not hesitate to email either KEFF or myself. Our emails are our usernames @php-fusion.co.uk
The new CoC can be downloaded here: Official Documents
EDIT by KEFF:
MT hereby ask all owners/admins of our NSS's to have a look at the document located here, called NSS Application. This is for already existing support sites, for updating staff purposes, as well as for new applicants. We look forward to have these submitted as soon as possible from all of our existing support sites.
If there are any questions regarding this, please PM me.
Cheers

Information on the Theme Contest |
|
While Sheldon is responsible for the general outline, guidelines, prizes and told you about them in his post, I will now tell you about how the themes are rated and give you some tips for your themes.
The contest is closely linked to the imminent release of PHP-Fusion 7. Consequently, a very important criterion for the rating of your theme submissions will be how you used the new features of PHP-Fusion 7. Custom head tags, output handling, the jQuery javascript toolkit and other new features provide new possibilities to influence the layout of your themes. Do not overuse them though, overuse could what we call sensory overload and take away from the main purpose of a site. Your theme(s) should not become a pure tech demo, but you should use the new possibilities you have in a reasonable and clever way to enhance the content and features of a site.
Themes provide the visual interface of PHP-Fusion sites. Thus the look you create with images and code will also influence the rating of your theme submission. Again, be careful not to add to many images or effects and keep an eye on load times and usability.
The next criterion is the code quality of the theme. The theme PHP code and JS code should be readable and should not produce any errors, you should avoid redundant CSS and try to stick to the W3C HTML and CSS specifications (note: Core 7 is XHTML compliant and therefore to be fully compliant your theme will need to follow the same DTD, use the W3C validation utilities at http://www.w3c.org ).
The last rating criterion is called creativity and sums up the other criteria. You will get a high rating here for new or interesting approaches of theming the site elements or interesting new features added to the theme. Remember that div layouts are now possible in the Core 7 theming structure.
Read more for more details on the weighting of the criteria, the community vote and the calculation of the final rating.
Note: Final Submission Date will be 1 month from today's posting date (end date: July 28th). Cheers. |

PHP Fusion Theme Contest Announcement |
|
CONTEST TIME!
The crew here at PHP Fusion have put together a nice little treat for its entire GLOBAL community! We have decided to launch a theme design contest. We will offer 3 prizes for the top 3 themes. The grand prize will be a free hosting package from Netriox/Forge Hosting(the company that runs the Fusion Servers) and the theme being included into the final PHP Fusion package. The final details, submission guidelines and how the themes will be judged will be posted by Matonor sometime within the next 48 hours or so. A pdf outlining the basic details is available here
On that note I would also like to reinforce a few license details. PHP Fusion has been released under the AGPL license. This means that the Copyright Footer and File Headers are NOT to be removed without specific written permission. At this time we do not have a procedure or policy on copyright removal. As well, when converting or updating PHP Fusion v6 themes, you need to make sure the the copyright notice properly displays and it should look exactly like the one on this site.
Click readmore for an example of the Copyright Footer
PS: A new tool to report bugs for PHP Fusion Core 7 RC versions will be up shortly. |

As it appears of the forum overview, we have launched 10 new support forums reserved for the upcoming release of PHP-Fusion Core 7 Edition. These are currently visible to members only. Postability is currently preserved staff, until the new moderators have been appointed. We endeavour continuously to add some information to the forums. Please keep in mind that PHP-Fusion Core 7 Edition is still beta - hence why it is not officially supported and you are still expected to post issues in the dedicated beta forum.
[UPDATE] On another note, we please ask ALL developers and this includes staff, to restrain from posting SVN zip packages to the public. PHP-Fusion 7 has not yet been officially released and therefore should not be released as such in any package. All developers should be using the SVN. Thanks -Management |

A Secunia advisory has brought to my attention a SQL injection vulnerability - hence yet another patch is available. Simply download the update package, overwrite the affected files and click the upgrade button under System Admin - that should be it. As usual - if you are running an earlier version of 6.01.xx, you need to apply the previous updates before utilizing this patch. The full SourceForge package and the SVN have also been updated:
PHP-Fusion 6.01.15 Update - for v6.01.14 only (3,86 KB).
PHP-Fusion 6.01.15 (2.04 MB).
I feel like repeating myself - lol...
Please refer to Secunia.com for details. |
