i know you can change "User GROUPS", but how can you change the "User Types" so that when you look in the "Members" list, it dosn't say "Member" next to their name, it says whatever you want it to say.

Yes - find the following, in locale/English/global.php:

// Standard User Levels
$locale['user0'] = "Public";
$locale['user1'] = "Member";
$locale['user2'] = "Administrator";
$locale['user3'] = "Super Administrator";
// Forum Moderator Level(s)
$locale['userf1'] = "Moderator";

Replace the red words in the code above, with the titles you want.
well but i want regular people to have the "Member" status, and a few people to have custom status.

is there a way to make a :
$locale['user4'] = "Custom";

and then go to where the users are and set the user to be:
$locale['user4']
instead of:
$locale['user1']

??
