I know it is hard to make skin / template / code - W3 compatible fully... but at least do yourself a favor - install Firefox and free HTML validator based on Tidy - found at http://users.skynet.be/mgueury/mozilla/
I really don't like to see the W3C valid for tons of skins and this site when this obviously isn't true.
Even though that sometimes it is hard to align all the elements and some hacks are required - more often than not the errors are in unescaped entities (links are supposed to be http://www.site.com/index.php?id=1& amp; page=2 instead of id=1&page=2, then unclosed or unmatched <div> </div> combinations, same goes for <tr> <td> opened or closed tags and missing alt='' for images not containing any alt text.
So please, STOP declaring site or template W3C valid when it is obviously not.
The beauty of TIDY in firefox is that it shows you green checkmark if the site passed (in realtime) or exclamation mark when the page is not valid. Just pass the basic validation and that's more than enough. Just by installing this you'll notice how many errors there are on this site alone and not to mention other sites or templates.
The importance of W3C valid sites is for the search engine purposes and for future browsers display. If site is invalid it may fail to be read correctly by search engine robot or future version of some browser. Now necessarly it will be the case but it is possibility.
