Unable to change password

Hi

We are running a site with version 6.01.11 and have had some unauthorised logins and panels created in the past on the site.

I managed to restore the site from an old backup, and all has been OK until today I noticed a login on the Super Admin account, from a Russian IP address.

Now I have tried to change the passwords but it will not let me. It says it has changed but it keeps the original.

Some of the other users on the site have problems when trying to update avatars as well.

Any feedback appreciated.
advise simply upgrade to the latest version
I would love to, but I have no idea how to.

I did not set the site up, and the person who did is no longer involved with it. I have read some of the guides but am afraid that I will destroy the current site. :|
if you're afraid, then you should try to do it on the local host, ie moved his site to your computer and update ...
If all goes smoothly, then did the same thing on a hosting where hangs site

You can try it using Wampserver or XAMPP :] before you upload to your real webserver.
snertos, maybe the best advice to regain full control over your website is to perfom the migration on your localhost. Here's the theory part:

1. Use your clean old backup to create your website on your own computer.
2. Upgrade all the way from v6.01.11 to v6.01.19. The upgrade procedure is very simple, don't be afraid.
3. Use the latest full v7 core to upgrade your v6 website. You will be doing this on your computer so, again, don't worry. Perform the upgrade exactly as written in the readme file, step by step.

Once your upgraded website is functional you will be able to back it up and restore it on your webhost.
